Kids love playing with colors. Take a big piece of paper. Choose two or three colors. Ask your preschooler to dip their fingers and start doing finger prints. When they are printing their finger prints tell your preschooler what the color is. Children love learning while they are playing.

2. A color a day:

Dedicate one color a day in a week. Say you dedicate green color for Monday, make sure everything is green. Dress up your preschooler in green, give green food items to eat, show green color items like tree leaves, green tissue paper, green vegetables, color a picture in green, etc. You can do the same for the other colors. This was done in my daughter’s school.

3. Singing color rhymes:

Children love singing; utilize this to teach your preschooler colors. Sing color rhymes with your preschooler.

4. Sort colors:

Take different colored things and mix them in a bag. Tell your preschooler to sort the colors. Children would love sorting colors.

5. Match colors:

Take different colored items just like how you did for sorting colors. Split the items into two sides; make sure both the sides have all colored items. Play with your preschooler by asking him/her to match things with same colors.

6. Color a picture:

Take an easy picture like a sun or a flower or a small house. When your preschooler is coloring the picture tell what color he/she is painting. Coloring a rainbow will be fun to teach colors.

7. Organize the toys:

Once your preschooler finishes playing with toys, it is now time to organize the toys. While doing so, tell what color each toy is.

8. Jumping on the squares:

Keep different color papers or squares on the floor. You stand on one side and let your preschooler stand on the other side. Call out a color and your preschooler has to identify the color and jump and stand on that color.

9. Build a color tower with blocks:

Take different color blocks. Start building a tower with one color. Ask your preschooler to help you by identifying the color with which you are building the tower; let him/her find the block and give you. You could build a red tower, a blue tower, a green tower, etc.

10. Play dough:

Playing with play dough is another enjoyable activity for kids. Start making objects with one colored play dough and teach your preschooler what the color is.

These fun ways will help your preschooler learn colors in an easy and interesting way. When you teach kids without forcing them to learn they grasp them very easily.

one time a neighbor kid came over, she was about 4 years old.. we were playing a game with smarties, a colored candy, I told her to pick the brown ones, she didnt know what ones where brown, or any color, she was not color blind, but her parents had done nothing for her in terms of talking about colors.
turns out her parents were pretty bad, the girl was taken from them a year later.
