What’s Making My PC Run Slow?

A quick discourse on how to make sure that your computer is running properly and optimized for use, for now.

Understanding PC Registry Cleaners

My computer’s running slow.

Why is it taking so long to boot up?

Why is my system running so hinky, in fits and starts?

I’m sure we’ve all either had this experience, or know of others that have had, or are now having this experience. The answer itself is simple – your system is full of junk that needs to be removed.

Whaaaat! You say, but I’ve got top of the line anti spyware, anti-virus etc. That’s all well and good in preventing illegal content coming on to your computer, but what about all those little things you download, whether you know about them or not, that make your software run, that allows So and So video to play in your browser? For these things to happen, your system needs to know that it can run them, when installed on your pc (and don’t forget about that trial you downloaded and cancelled, and other stuff like that which happened once a long time ago). This is where your pc registry comes in, as it acts as an index to the programs and additions that your pc may run. If there’s no line of instructions in your registry file, your PC just will not know to run that software. So if you’ve got tons of unused lines in your registry, your system will run slowly. To remove these files, or lines, you need a registry cleaner.

DO NOT fall into the trap of thinking “hey, I know where those files are – I’ll just remove them manually now and save on buying/getting the software”. Go ahead – please!- remove those files yourself, and in the process remember that you’re creating one on the world’s most expensive paper weights!

Guru that I’m not, I do recognize that, truly, sometimes a little knowledge just IS too much. If you feel you have the chops to do it and accept the consequences, well go ahead and remember that you have no one to blame but yourself. Me, on the other hand, I like to ensure that I got someone to call after the fit hits the shan, so I’ll make sure I have a company to call, one way or the other.

When you’re choosing a software  program that addresses these point’s, make sure it’s one that actually repairs or delete’s the problems – not one that simply point’s and says “Hey, you got an Issue here!”. Those programs are worse than trash, as they add another line in your registry but they do NOTHING! Compare it to having a guy that you pay sitting beside you in your car telling you what to do for every motion when you drive, but already know how to drive anyway.

Right, you don’t need someone to do that for you when you’re driving, so why the Frak would you want someone like that on your PC at home? You just wouldn’t, so don’t stand for that and make sure your new registry software works well, and does what you need it to do before you pay for it.
