Sad but frequent. Your computer is a very delicate piece of mechanic and electronic devices. It can even fail just with normal usage or nu usage at all.
What do most people have in their computer? Music, photos, documents, backups and more. What happens when the hard disk crashes? You lose everything or you need to pay up to 10000$ to get your data professionally recovered in a laboratory.
There is little you can do after your hard disk crashes. However you can do a lot to prevent this bad situation from happening to you.
- Don’t keep anything in your computer. It’s much better to use any online site. I must recommend email as storage because some have unlimited space and they never crash.
- To save all your passwords use Lastpasss. All you need to give is a master password, then you can install the Firefox add on and login from any site.
- Use a portable version of Firefox inside USB Drive protected with True Crypt. This will ensure your data and everything you do with your computer on the internet is always 100% safe.
- If you must use an offline application such as Adobe After Effects, save all your work in a portable device.
- Online backups are good but once your computer fails you will always have to spend a day or two putting things together again.
- With a fast internet connection online storage becomes even faster than offline storage.
- Finally if you keep everything in your email, you just need one single search box to manage all your data, making it impossible for you to lose a thing.

When a computer is down it does stink, by keeping less on your computer you wont be at risk of losing so much precious photos stories etc.
Great article
Are you serious? Nothing on the internet is 100% safe, and certain data should never be stored online. Multiple offline backups and a notebook for sensitive passwords like bank account information is much safer.
