Is your security software protecting your PC? EICAR test will help you to find out.
- Create new .txt document.
- Open it and copy this code to it:
X5O!P%@AP[4PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H* - Save. After that, your anti-virus or anti-spyware should delete it.
EICAR-AV-Test is for use in testing the functionality of security programs. This file is not an actual threat, but is used to mimic Malware for testing purposes without compromising system.

Where’s 2 and 3 steps?????????
Good security programs should also find the standard EICAR test file even if it is inside a zip file or some other compressed format. Really good ones should even find it if the zipped version is zipped again.
You can also test your email services’ virus scanning abilities by sending this file to your email address but be aware that this behaviour will be indistinguishable from a real virus and will show up on an admin’s alert panel. It could get you flagged as a virus sender so make sure you talk to your sysadmin before sending this file anywhere.
I really liked it, it’s nice!
This is really a good method for testing the effectiveness of the virus guard installed on your system. Thanks for sharing this great tip.
