Avira is the best. Give it a try or download virus samples and test the products. Avira has the best detection rate. Period.

Ive used Avast and AVG and much prefer Avira, it updates automatically so that con is invalid, and the popup requires one click to remove…not bad for TOTAL peace of mind …use Avira

Loved your article, been using AVG since before people knew about avg & Pandaware. I swear by it, but just like any other software it’s not perfect, but close enough. Keep up the great work, I look forward to more! What do you think about PC Tools Registry Mechanic? I run that too, along with window washer for optimal cleaning. I don’t trust just one software company to do all my cleaning…lol

And Michael, you can only use one at a time or else problems will occur as each Antivirus program tries to destroy the other if more than one is installed at a time.

I like Avast…used it for years and never had a problem with it. Tried using AVG for a while but didnt like it…especially because the update window always interfered with the games or applications i was running (tried to steal focus all the time). Another great one ive found is Trend Micro Housecall (housecall.trendmicro.com). It is free…but its an online scanner so its not really something you would rely on alone (im a big fan of the on-access protection that avast offers)

Thanks for the information. I never knew about most of these programs. I have heard of AVG though. Haven’t tried it yet. But, I will once my current anti virus program has expired.
