Here are some basic steps you need to take to avoid unpleasant surprises and ensure that you get your work gets done on time:
- Always protect the screen of your computer. The last thing you want is a broken screen. Avoid sitting on your laptop case and ensure that kids are kept far away from it. Once the laptop falls, there’s a very high probability that the screen will crack. If you’re travelling, always make sure you put a cotton screen cover between the keypads and the screen
- Ensure that your computer cable is plugged into a clean sourcce of power. Clean power is any power from a source that is regulated, like a stabilizer or a UPS. Unstable power can easily harm the motherboard of your computer and destroy it.
- Dust your laptop frequently. Dust can cause electrostatic discharges which may have an adverse effect on your laptop. Wipe the screen with a damp lint cloth and use a brush to clean the key pads of your laptop as often as you feel is necessary.
- Keep your laptop in a cool place Your laptop should be protected from heat and other harmful weather elements.
- Perform system maintenance regualarly. This includes regular anti-virus scans, operating system updates, disc clean-up, disk-defragmenattion, deletion of temporary files and so on.
- Lastly, back up all your files and folders.
