First here’s the list of anti-virus, spyware, trojan,… I recommand to get ( Don’t make more then 1 anti-virus work at a time, it’s not recommended) :

-Avira AntiVir, Downloadable on download.cnet.com(anti virus )

-Spybot – Search & Destroy, Downloadable on download.cnet.com ( Spywar remover )
-Advanced Internet Kiosk, Downloadable on download.cnet.com ( Security Software )
-Smart Popup Blocker, Downloadable on download.cnet.com ( Popup blocker )

What I use : Avast! Home Edition + ESET Online Scanner + Norton Scanner ( + Spybot S&D ( for advanced user only ))
Why ? Because they all find different virus/ infected files.

Basic :
-My scanner/anti-virus has detected an infected file, what should I do ?
1) If the scanner/anti-virus offers to put it on quaranteen do so, otherwise destroy it.

-I want to destroy the file but where is it ?
2) Find its location ( written on the scanner/anti-virus ) then either finding it yourself or by searching with the official microsoft search engine ( recommended ).
example : Scanner says : Virus, type : trojan,name:nnnnn location : C/:xxx/xxx/yyy/yyy , well you just search this location or use the search engine ( to find it go on : start->My Computor->Search button ).

-I don’t have the right to destroy the file ? Or the virus doesnt gets removed even though my anti-virus said it did?
3) When you have found your file :
First : Go on : Start->Run->type in : msconfig->select the “Startup” section, and unselected the virus/file name ( remember : its nnnnn, go back step 2 if you didnt read it ), then press apply.
Then either :
-delete the file from its location, here its : C/:xxx/xxx/yyy/yyy ( right click on the file then select “delete” ).
or,
-Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, go to the “Processes” section, once you’re there find the name of the virus , once you’ve find it, press “End Process Tree”.
Then go to the virus/file location ( C/:xxx/xxx/yyy/yyy ), and press delete and it will work !

Important after you’ve done with either step, EMPTY YOUR RECYCLE BIN, or the virus will still be active !

Proes :

Creat a batch files to destroy the virus/ infected file, with the following lines ( if you haven’t deleted yet in step three.

(open notepad )

@echo off

del /IM “c:/xxx/xxx/yyy/yyy”

pause

(save as something.bat)
-I can’t find the location that was given by my anti-virus/scanner !
1) Sometimes its hidden under Microsoft/Windows company, and it’s used as an Priority Program ( When you launch your PC ). To see hidden files click here or,

Advanced :

 If you still got problems, go to start->Control Panel->Appearance and Theme->Folder Option-> uncheck :”hide protected operating stystem” and then check: “Show hidden files and folder”.
Then launch as scan, and try to search the virus/file under the location given by the anti-virus/scanner.

-A Virus is making sound ( ads ) ?
2) Super easy to find it if your PC isn’t to charged : when you hear sounds, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and go to the “Processes” section. Once you’re there try looking the Process that goes up ( in the CPU colon ) when you hear the sound and goes back to 0-1 when the sound is off. ( Sometime it can go up to 100 or more so easy to catch it ).

Other tactics :
-Hijacking
-Anti-Virus Auto removal
-Self Knownledge ( knowing the functions of the file )
-Other unknown ( Hacking, etc… )

Different infected files :
The common ones are ;
Trojans, Spywares, Malwares ( Key logger, pop ups, sounds ).
