How to Bypass a Firewall

Instructions to unblock a website blocked by a firewall.

You are using a computer at work, school, library or other public place. You are trying to access a website but the site is telling you that you do not have access. You are being blocked by a firewall. Before attempting to unlock a firewall that has been deliberately set by owner of the computer, make sure you fully understand the rules and consequences that could follow. Although the following procedure is not illegal, attempting to bypass someone’s firewall may not be the right thing for you to do. If you are adamant in accessing a blocked site, there is a way to bypass a firewall that is really easy to do.

Instructions to Bypass a Firewall

Step 1
Click on the “Start” menu, “All Programs,” “Accessories” and “Command Prompt” to open a blank command bar.

Step 2
Type “ping” (no quotation marks) in the command bar as well as the URL of the website you want to access; then hit “Enter.”

An example would be – pingmyspace.com

Step 3
Search for the IP (Internet Protocol) address of the website you just pinged in the command prompt log.

Step 4
Enter the IP address as it is displayed in the command prompt log into the address bar of your Web browser. Hit “Enter.” Site is unblocked.
