One of the top Russian antivirus firms has discovered a virus that it says can be used as a cyber super weapon.
Experts at Kaspersky Lab are responsible for the disclosure of this information. Kaspersky Lab is one of the largest producers of antivirus software in the world.
Super Weapon
The antivirus firm says that the cyber virus is currently being used. Several countries are being attacked with the use of this super weapon. The virus is known as Flame and was discovered during an investigation that was prompted by the International Telecommunication Union.

Larger Than Previous Cyber Virus
The Flame virus is much larger than other viruses that have been identified in the past. It is several times larger than the worm that was used to attack the Iranian nuclear program in 2010. It is not built to perform only one function. It is meant to attack from several different angles. So far, it seems that it has been used against a number of countries as a tool for cyber espionage.

Cyber Espionage Virus
The Flame virus is meant to enter the systems of foreign governments and collect information. It steals stored files, information about the way that target systems function. It may also be responsible for deleting data on several computers in Western Asia.
Which countries have been most affected?
Several nations have had recent cyber attacks which are suspected to be due to the Flame virus. In Iran, the oil ministry was attacked using this virus. Iran’s main oil export terminal was also attacked.
