Just four simple things you can do to protect yourself from computer viruses.
SOME TIPS TO PROTECT YOURSELF
It’s better safe than sorry right? If you don’t protect yourself, you’re just avoiding the problem. Below are four easy and simple tips to ensure that you, the home computer user, can ensure that your computer remains virus-free.
-
Don’t download documents from a source you don’t know.
This includes attachments from emails and sources which you download movies and music from such as Limewire or Bearshare. How do you know where these documents come from? In addition, it’s illegal so don’t expect sympathy from agencies if you receive a virus while illegally downloading music.
-
Regularly scan your files for any intruders.
Some computers will do this for you automatically on a regular basis whereas with others, you’re going to have to do the work yourself. With over 70,000 viruses out there (and still growing!), it’s a good idea to see if you may have one of them. Also, the faster you clear a virus from your system, the easier it is to recover anything that may have been lost or damaged.
-
Set a strong password on all your accounts.
As crazy as it may seem, the most common password of all is- you guessed it- “password”. A strong password is eight letters in length and is made up of both letters and numbers. A strong password ensures that no one can get into your computer and put in a virus using your network or account.
-
Get antivirus protection software.
This software will help you protect yourself from viruses and prevent viruses from getting into and invading your system.

Good advice. Also you need to constantly update anti-virus software because there are new viruses every day.
it is always good to know these things.
